Tuberculosis caused by primary infection of or reactivation of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Active tuberculosis characterized by clinical manifestation and active symptoms compatible with tuberculosis, and is distinct from latent tuberculosis infection that occurs without signs or symptoms of active disease.
