  2. Definition

Home Office Offence Codes that were used to identify any drug and alcohol related offences in Data First Ministry of Justice data, as part of the Better Outcomes Through Linked Data (BOLD) project. BOLD is a government data-linking programme which aims to improve the connectedness of government data in England and Wales. In BOLD Wales, SAIL Databank collaborated with Public Health Wales and the Welsh Government to investigate Substance Misuse. Note: this phenotype contains drug or alcohol related offence codes which are not limited to only codes indicating personal substance use. Drug adulteration has been excluded, as the corresponding codes were not specific to only drugs: '101 Adulteration of Food Drug etc.'

  3. Implementation

    Implementation

OFFENCE_HO_CODE_DESC codes appear in the Data First Magistrates' Court defendant case level dataset (MACO) as values for variables: CJS_OFFENCE_CODE_DESC (Criminal Justice System Offence Code Description), CJS_OFFENCE_CODE_DESC_MSO(Most Serious Offence), OFFENCE_HO_CODE_DESC(Home Office Offence Code Description), OFFENCE_HO_CODE_DESC_MSO. And in the Data First Crown Court defendant case level dataset (CRCO) as values for variables: OFFENCE_HO_CODE_DESC_MSO, OFFENCE_HO_CODE_DESC_MSD. These variables correspond to the 'Description' on the Phenotype Library. The 'Code' field in the list relates to the FINAL_OFFENCE_HO_CODE variable in the datasets, which is instead coded using integers.
