  3. Methodology

    This codelist was derived by the following method:

    • Read 2 Codelist provided by LSHTM. This was from Jennifer Davidson's list. In addition the following codes were added:
      • Telephone consultation suspected influenza A virus subtype H1N1
      • Telephone consultation for suspected swine flu
      • Encephalitis due to influenza-specific virus not identified
      • Encephalitis due to influenza-virus identified
    • Codes from Quality Outcome Framework (QOF) were examined and no relevant terms were found
    • Codes from SNOMED were taken by searching for relevant influenza terms and a list was created.

    These 2 lists were mapped into CTV3 by TPP to create one list. This list was examined by 2 people and the following logic applied (see github issue for more detail):
