  3. Methodology

    UPDATED in 2024 to include missing temporary/local codes.

    Original 2020 methodology: the following steps were taken to generate the list:

    • Included the codelist from Swain et al 2020 (Trends in incidence and prevalence of osteoarthritis in the United Kingdom: findings from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink [CPRD]) and "Arthritis" codes were excluded.
    • A manual search of READ was conducted identifying additional osteoarthritis related codes.
    • A manual search of SNOMED was conducted.
    • All codes were combined and mapped by TPP.
    • A final manual review was conducted by HD and CM.
