  3. Methodology

    Search terms / synonyms / search strategy: Hysterectomy, Fallopian, Ovary, Ovaries, Uterus, Salpingectomy, Oophrectomy, Exenteration of pelvis, Menopause. We also reviewed the NHS Digital reference set on 'Codes that indicate complete removal of the cervix', and included these codes in our codelist as appropriate.

    Inclusion criteria for codes: Code indicates a definite and permanent inability to have children in future.

    Exclusion criteria for codes: Code does not indicate a definite inability to have children, or indicates an inability to have children which may be reversible in future e.g. a reversible sterilisation procedure, or a transient fertility problem.
