    This codelist was taken from OpenCodelists, created by OpenSAFELY. We recommend viewing this Phenotype on the OpenCodelist website to view the most recent version.

    This codelists includes codes that can identify where a consultation has occurred in a community pharmacy under the Pharmacy First service. The codelist is intended to be used in conjunction with other codelists identifying Pharmacy First clinical pathways conditions and medications.

    It is designed for sensitivity - we want to identify all likely Pharmacy First consultations.

  3. Methodology

    We reviewed the GP Connect: Update Record documentation which details the SNOMED CT clinical codes recorded and transferred into GP electronic healthcare records for codes identifying an appropriate Pharmacy First consultation.

    We also search for SNOMED CT codes containing the phrase "Pharmacy First".

    Inclusion criteria for codes

    • Codes identified from GP Connect: Update Record documentation and example used for Pharmacy First
    • Codes reflecting Pharmacy First consultation

    Exclusion criteria for codes

    • Codes reflecting referral, signposting etc.
    • Codes from GP Connect: Update Record for contraception, blood pressure, or urgent supply of prescription items.
    • Inactive codes.

    Reviewed 20/10/2025 - no changes needed.
