    This codelist was taken from OpenCodelists, created by OpenSAFELY. We recommend viewing this Phenotype on the OpenCodelist website to view the most recent version.

    This codelist will be used to extract patients with Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD ) using OpenSAFELY. The codelist will be applied in studies looking at Trends and variations in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD.

  3. Methodology

    We include only SNOMED diagnosis codes for PTSD (including “acute”, “chronic”, “delayed onset”, and “other/unspecified” PTSD, and military-combat qualifiers where explicitly recorded). We exclude symptom terms, screening tools, scale items/scores etc to avoid false positives from suspected cases or symptom screening without a confirmed diagnosis. This choice may reduce sensitivity where PTSD is recorded only as symptoms.
